Doug Abbey is a Founding Partner of IHP Capital Partners and has played a central role in guiding the firm’s investment strategy and governance since its inception in 1992. Mr. Abbey brings more than four decades of real estate investment leadership to IHP, contributing to capital formation, strategic partnerships, and high-level decision-making as a member of the Board and Investment Committee.
In addition to co-founding IHP, Mr. Abbey was a founder of AMB Property Corporation in 1983, which later merged with Prologis (NYSE: PLD) to become the world’s largest global industrial REIT. His career has been defined by a focus on institutional capital, urban development, and innovation in real estate investment management.
Mr. Abbey is deeply committed to civic and philanthropic engagement. He serves as Chair of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Foundation’s Our Cities, Our Future capital campaign and is a former Trustee and Vice Chairman of ULI. He is also a member of the real estate committee of the UCSF Foundation, helping to guide the university’s campus development and investment initiatives.
Since 2005, Mr. Abbey has taught real estate finance and investment at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, mentoring future industry leaders and advancing thought leadership in the field. He holds a B.A. from Amherst College and a Master of City Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
